Jennifer Connelly is one of those actresses who look chic and fashionable no matter what you dress her in. She has a very unique approach to red-carpet-dressing and is not afraid of wearing Balenciaga pieces that various critics deem 'unwearable', 'unmarketable' and not 'realistic'. Jennifer is BOLD and daring with both her film roles and her fashion choices. Here we dressed her in Prada Spring 2009. The crumpled imperfection set against Connelly's clean and sophisticated demeanor really work for us, don't you think?

Chloe Sevigny in Balenciaga Spring 2009
So the Balenciaga collection by Ghesquiere was GENIUS. I loved it loved it loved it. And what a profound statement Nicolas made when someone asked him "Is this the future?" and he responded with "No, for me this is Balenciaga for today.". Of course I'm paraphrasing a little but he was completely and utterly right.
How many times can we look into the past and reach for the distant future? We need fashion for TODAY.
Now, I've seen Cate Blanchett and Jennifer Connelly wearing the metallic dresses from the collection and honestly - they looked like boring party dresses. To make it interesting one needs to either keep the jersey-tops worn underneath OR the leggings and shoes combo. Not both. One or the other.
So without further ado - Chloe Sevigny in Balenciaga Spring 2009. So avant-garde yet soooo chic, no?
We're BACK !!!
Summer is here and we're ready to create NEW looks with the brilliance that was Spring 2009.
I won't bother reviewing any of the collections since everyone is entitled to their own opinions and the subjectivity of fashion means that we shouldn't force our reviews/opinions/frustrations on the free world *cough* STYLE.COM *cough* :)
But heres my highlights from Spring 2009...
TOP 5 Collections according to Yves Yves
1. Balenciaga
2. Jil Sander
3. Burberry
4. Calvin Klein
5. Prada
Disappointments of the Season
1. Yves Saint-Laurent
2. Lanvin
3. Nina Ricci
Model of the Season
Sigrid Argen
Sigrid Argen
Suprise of the Season
Dolce & Gabbana
Shoes of the Season
Those, potentially iconic Prada shoes. They will go down in history as both some of the most intriguingly beautiful shoes but also the most dangerous shoes, no?
Bag of the Season
Nothing particularly unique on the runway this season. Although, I must say those metallic-alligator-crocodile clutches from Balenciaga are seriously damn COOL.
They're the perfect accessory for Spring/Summer. I can see Ashley Olsen wearing one with her uniform of The Row t-shirt and ksubi jeans, no?

STYLE Cate Blanchett
Cate Blanchett wears Givenchy Fall 2008 blouse, pants and shoes.
We don't know WHY Cate won't wear more of Givenchy. Shes more or less a modern day Audrey Hepburn. Yes, we said it! And we don't care if you turn on us!
:P
Cate would wear Givenchy like no other. She looks perfect in their mix of feminine and masculine, no?

STYLE Cate Blanchett
Cate Blanchett is possibly one of THE most striking beauties of our generation.
She exudes class which is something that not every actress has the ability to do.
We love her fashion choices [most of the time] but wonder why Cate never wears Lanvin.
She suits the relaxed elegance of Alber's aesthetic, no?
Cate + Lanvin = FASHION HEAVEN :)

STYLE Chloe Sevigny
Yesterday we talked about
Hussein Chalayan.
Today, we decided to take our love further, and decked out our muse, Chloe Sevigny, in another one of his Fall 2008 dresses.
She suits the quirky minimalism that he showed for Fall 2008.
Simple classic black pieces but with 3 giant boulders slung around the neck. Quirky. Cool. SO Chloe.
She wears it better than Irina, no?

STYLE Mischa Barton
Mischa Barton wears Hussein Chalayan Fall 2008 dress and booties.
He is seriously one of the most underrated designers. Chalayan dresses are beyond beautiful but also combine architectual motif's.
For Spring 2007, he created those technical dresses that changed shape with one click. Genius.
This season he played the theatrics down. And the result was pretty fantastic.
We think Mischa looks cool without being overly trendy, no?

STYLE Chloe Sevigny
The Fall 2008 YSL collection was styled so intensely that at times we thought we were watching the sequel to Aeon Flux.
It was intimidating. And futuristic. Chic. But intimidating nonetheless.
HOWEVER. The pieces were incredibly luxurious and pretty vintage if you take another look. Thats why Chloe suits this collection PERFECTLY. It's that perfect mixture of the old and the new, so naturally she looks cool as f*ck.

STYLE Chloe Sevigny
Chloe Sevigny wears Viktor & Rolf Fall 2008 dress and shoes.
She suits the mood of the collection perfectly, don't you guys think?
It was about liberty and being outspoken etc etc which sort of reminds us of Chloe. Thats why we dressed her in it! :)
Perfect dress, even though its 'stapled' together on a girl with a libertine sensibility.
Hope she wears this for real sometime...

Lohan and Valentino
Lohan isn't the sort of girl you'd expect to wear a Valentino piece, but you know, we think she can exude that [much needed] class every once in a while. That is without that damned blonde hair.
Girl needs to go back to red hair and she needs to hire us to style her! :P
What do you think of this one? Valentino Fall 2008 dress.

STYLE: Diane Kruger
Diane Kruger is one of those women who could literally wear anything and look both impeccably styled and very thrown together.
She wears Balenciaga with such ease that we wonder why she hasn't gotten a campaign yet ! *note to Nicholas: Spring 2009 with Diane Kruger*
:P
Here she is in a Chloe Fall 2008 dress with Givenchy Haute Couture Fall 2008 shoes. Perfection, isn't it?

STYLE Chloe Sevigny
Isn't Chloe just THE embodiement of the Balenciaga aesthetic???
Here she is in a Fall 2008 dress and shoes. Jewellery, vintage.
The entire collection was bliss, but the styling was a bit intense. So to make it seem more casual, I'd go for the complete rolled out of bed aesthetic for hair and make up. This way you don't look too futuristic.
;)
What do you think of Chloe + Balenciaga?

Fashion Forecast
Carine Roitfeld, editor of Vogue Paris, was seen wearing this curious looking hat during both the Mens collections and the Haute Couture collections.
A lot of people hated it. We loved it. And come Spring 2009, you'll probably see EVERY fashionista in town wearing those cowboy/Burberry mens hats.
It's totally the new Fedora. So through those out! It's all about the cow-berry hat as we call it.
STYLE MISCHA BARTON
So we're going to start styling Mischa Barton. With the help of photoshop that is.
It's more of an ode to her more than fashion advice, since she clearly is in need of none.
We just think shes the perfect celebrity to wear fashion and pull it off.
This is the 1st installation of STYLE MISCHA BARTON.
Doesn't she look amazing in Givenchy Haute Couture Fall 2007???

Lanvin and Ance. The Affordable Version.
So you've all seen what Alber did for Acne Jeans. Yes, those pieces are essentially Lanvin denim. But they're also essentially UNAFFORDABLE.
We made this collage, inspired by Lanvin for Acne Jeans.
The blazer is silk, but looks like the denim that Alber created.
Pair it with a pair of boyfriend jeans, roll them up and wear a pair of high high high heels.
Essentially - you've created the same look - using topshop pieces and any costume jewelery that you can find (maybe add a few bows and pearls where you can) - for less than $1000.

The Midas Touch
These Marc by Marc Jacobs Gold Boots are beyond COOL.
Chloe Sevigny inspired us to create these 2 looks.
Wear the boots with a pair of shorts and a blazer. DON"T pair them with white floaty tops or you'll look like another cowboy revival clone. Don't ask us what that means. :P
Or wear it with an all gold dress a la Mischa Barton circa 2005 (we can't find the photo :S)

Bold for Resort
Marni influenced us to make this...
What Marni is subconsciously telling us is that BOLD is in.
If you're going to wear florals, don't just wear a floral print top/skirt. Its boring and something only the mothers of the world would do.
As seen at Marni Resort 2009, head-to-toe florals is the way to go.
It shows you're bold, brave and essentially that you know how to dress above the rest.
Maybe ditch the hat if you want to avoid looking TOO thought out though.
Pile on some flower accessories also. Gold gold gold and some silver. And some string that you found in your sewing kit. And also some dirty rubber bands. And if you can, some masculine watches. This is cool.

LBD Never Ever Dies.
Subversive Fashion.
Yes this is yet another fashion blog. But this time, its a guys perspective on how a woman should dress.
Pretty just doesn't do it for me. I'm into subversive fashion. But that doesn't mean I'm yet another salivating fan of Westwood or Comme des Garcons. It just means, I like creativity and avant garde.
I'm talking about mixing YSL with Topshop and wearing those famed Givenchy cross neck pieces with a t shirt you found on the floor at your boyfriends house.
Anything goes. Except perfection. Because perfect doesn't exist and it never will. Thats why Vogue will never go anywhere and why POP and i-D are influencing culture as we speak.
